GKH Attorneys Present Constitutional Rights Series

GKH attorneys Dwight Yoder, Justin Bollinger, Jason Asbell and Sheila O’Rourke share a passion for the U.S. Constitution. They are committed to educating the public about the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, and defending those rights and freedoms when they are threatened.

Over the past 10 months, these GKH attorneys have begun working their way through the Bill of Rights, so far presenting on Free Speech and the Right To Protest, the First Amendment’s Guarantee of Religious Freedom, and the Second Amendment’s Right To Keep and Bear Arms. Future presentations covering additional constitutional rights and civil liberties are planned. Presentations have taken place at downtown Lancaster’s Tellus360. All are free and open to the public.

Continuing this popular series, on September 11 at Tellus360 attorneys Yoder, Bollinger, Asbell, and O’Rourke will present an overview of the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition against unreasonable searches and seizures and excessive force. Learn what constitutes an illegal search or seizure, and what powers are granted to police who have a search warrant. What about the police search of a cell phone or other electronic device? Bring your questions and participate in a lively question and answer time.

On November 13, also at Tellus360, the series continues with an overview of the 5th Amendment’s right against self-incrimination and double jeopardy, including when these rights apply, what happens once they are asserted, and limitations on their use. The presenters will also discuss the 6th Amendment’s right to legal counsel when charged with a crime, and the guarantee to a jury in criminal and civil trials.

Finally, celebrating Constitution Day on September 17, attorneys Yoder, Bollinger, Asbell and O’Rourke will present an interactive overview of the Constitution and Bill of Rights at HACC Lancaster.
