Transforming Conflict

GKH was a major sponsor of “Around the Table,” Advoz’s 2018 signature benefit event held April 19 at the Eden. The evening celebrated Advoz’s mission of transforming conflict and building community through face-to-face dialogue programs. The evening’s keynote speaker was Janet Connors, subject of the documentary film, Circle Up. After the brutal murder of her son, her journey of restorative dialogue with two of her son’s murderers led to emotional and relational healing. She now leads restorative processes in schools and in health care, correctional and community settings.

Our firm values the mission and work of Advoz, and is proud to partner with them. Advoz trains mediators, facilitates restorative justice conferencing, and leads Restorative School Training. In 2017 over 600 people participated in Restorative Schools Training, including 450 students from the School district of Lancaster. More and more schools and organizations are embracing Circle Process as a tool to transform conflict and practice restorative justice.

A recent GKH seminar, presented by attorneys Mel Hess, Jonna Stratton, and Justin Bollinger, along with attorney John Huber and presentations by Advoz staff and Lorraine Stutzman Amstutz, explored the role of mediation as both a complement to and an alternate to litigation. GKH attorneys Mel Hess and Jonna Stratton are both trained mediators who encourage their clients to consider mediation as a way to resolve conflict.

Many thanks to Advoz for their good work! We are eager to see their work continue to prosper here in Lancaster.
